Everybody needs a helping hand and our students are giving their time to help others in a new program called Cyber Seniors.  Nineteen seniors are volunteering to help teach the elderly how to use computers in the City of Carson. They help them with very simple tasks like creating an email or getting into Youtube from the Internet.

Those who volunteer have a great impression on the program.

“It’s a great new experience working with someone much older than me. I’m glad I joined because I’m helping someone understand the technology that the new generation is using,” said senior Vanessa Gonzalez.

“Cyber senior is one of many intergenerational activities that the red academy is planning and creating with the city of Carson. This semester we have the cyber senior program which is nineteen students going over to city of Carson and teaching senior citizens how to use computers,” said history teacher Paul Cawood.

The senior center and Mr.Cawood are also planning another class for next semester in which cyber seniors will be writing autobiographies about their history and experience. They are also planning on creating different classes with different subjects for the elderly.

Those who are in twelfth grade still have a chance to join. Cyber seniors is a great program to have a new experience and to volunteer to help others. It could be a great chance to have a new opportunity to have the chance to help someone who needs it.
