Smell What The Rock Is Cookin

Dwayne (the Rock) Johnson was ready to shoot one of his final scenes with Vin Diesel on the set of Fast 8, the next film in Universal’s $4 billion-and-counting franchise. The crew waited patiently for Diesel to emerge from his trailer in the blaze of the 90-degree sun in Atlanta, and they kept waiting. Through the 100-day shoot, the actor often delayed his co-stars, which didn’t seem to bother them, all except for Johnson. With only days to go, tension between the two tough-guy actors was no worse than usual. But for unknown reasons, Johnson took the step of venting about Fast 8 on Facebook, a move insiders say came out of nowhere and blindsided everyone.

“My female co-stars are always amazing, and I love ‘em. My male co-stars however are a different story,” wrote Johnson, throwing some shade at, I can only asum Vin Diesel.

Though Johnson’s words were cryptic, Diesel is said to have confronted Johnson the next day over the post and a joke Johnson said on his HBO show, Ballers, about being “better looking” than Diesel, leading to a heated exchange in Johnson’s trailer. Hours later, Diesel was publicly fingered as the source of The Rock’s anger. And the Universal executives quickly found themselves in the middle of a public brawl between the two key players in the studio’s most important franchise.

Though some view the way Johnson handled the situation was a bit childish, he is correct in this dispute. Diesel was being unprofessional throughout the whole shoot by delaying the crew and making them wait for him to come out of his trailer. Since Vin didn’t like Mondays, he would delay the shoot from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The crew also took The Rock’s side, saying that he is an ultimate professional who is always on time and always nails his scenes.
