Mary Jane Watson Is Going Black and Never Coming Back

Mary Jane Watson our iconic beauty that has forever stolen the love of our very flexible charismatic Spiderman will not be played by a Caucasian in the upcoming ‘Spiderman-Man: Homecoming’. Feuds on Twitter and angry conversations at Barnes and Noble are happening everyday since Marvel has released the news that Zendaya Coleman will be playing Mary Jane Watson. Though we have our negative and cynical opinions on twitter, there are some that are all for this character change.

“I think it would be very interesting only because I really like her as an actor and just in general and I think it would be good to see another ethnicity playing a white role.” said Leimomi Mitchell, junior.

How can people that listen to music that is derived from a variety of cultures, feel the need to protrude their opinion across the internet about when a character remodel can or will happen. The feud is a waste of time because our current generation knows very well that America loves diversity and change. Zendaya playing Mary Jane Watson will be such an inspiration to other cinematic decisions.

The original comic book, “ The Amazing Spiderman” issue number 15, gives a pretty direct description of the ideal MJ: red hair, green eyes, and Caucasian. This is a moment to take a look on Google and search “Zendaya with red hair”. The results? The beautiful fair-skinned Zendaya with red hair and she was born with greenish eyes so she completely looks great in the “ideal” attire of Mary Jane. This ‘Tug of War’ wouldn’t seem so ridiculous if they decided to have a female with complicated features play the character of Mary Jane. Yet still if they did it shouldn’t even matter. The main focus should be: can she act the part well? Yes she can!

“If she is as good an actress as I hear she is, I think it’ll be absolutely wonderful!” said Stan Lee, creator of “The Amazing Spiderman”; in an interview with cinemablend. com.

If Stan Lee is more eager to see how his work is portrayed through great acting and not by color, and why is there a feud at all? Stan Lee created this and yet people that most likely sit on the couch all day binge watching Netflix feel that they have a say in how the movie business should be.
