The Possibility of New Outlet Malls

Seven months after the NFL rejected, the City of Carson’s bid for an NFL stadium, city officials have announced a new project. The project proposes the building of an outlet mall, which will house over 150 retail outlets.

City of Carson officials voted 5-0 to start a negotiation on the project’s cost, feasibility, benefit, and establishment in Carson. The site is home to 157 acres of land and sits alongside the 405 freeways and Carson.

“Once these outlets get built in 2009, its going to be a great opportunity to get jobs, especially for teens who live near Carson. It’s provide another place to hang out here in Carson,” said junior Jhamiel Jefferson.

The proposal states that this project should be completed by summer of 2019, if everything goes to plan.

Currently, the property that will house these outlets is costing the City of Carson, 450,000 dollars a month. This property was once a landfill which means it was once a very hazardous area but now all the danger has ceased with the closing of these holes and removal of the buried waste.

This is a project that has yet to be fully voted on for approval but is looking very plausible. Although, before the NFL stadium was proposed, an outlet mall project was proposed to the city, but conversations halted and negotiations were waived to focus on the stadium project.

Lastly, whether an outlet gets built or not, something is going to get built on the property. Whatever it is will affect the city of Carson economically.
