As we know, there have been a lot of changes throughout the semester. One of the main effects being that soon the football field will soon be closed due to the renovation to improve the field a lot more better. Approaching the end of the semester, it allows the construction workers and others to get somewhat of a head start to the renovation. In several ways, it will affect the deduction of activities and sports till further notice.
Ms.Fukuda who is the Athletic Director of the sports department here at Rancho. Fukuda was able to provide some recent updates regarding the field renovation and how these upcoming events and activities will vary throughout the year.
“The football field is to be closed from November 2024 till September 2025.Though this is the estimated time that is needed in order to make those changes for the field,” Fukuda said.
Adjusting to this process, Fukuda announces that the field will be closed for quite some time. Though the time it is closed for, it will be just the estimated time of the closure.
“With the closing of the field it will affect PE and their classes, it will affect athletics big time due to their use of the field. For example, for soccer season the majority of our games will be away, the same rules apply for track and field. We are also working on finding alternative places to relocate our practices and stuff like that. For PE, we will have to use everything besides the field like the gym, the MPR, possibly the baseball field, basketball courts and all that. So it will affect everyone in a variety of ways,” Fukuda said.
The closing of the football field definitely takes a big toll on the athletic department and its sports here at Rancho. Therefore, the athletic director and alongside its staff will help in its best way possible to assist the sports and their upcoming schedules/games.
“We plan on using the park right over which is Dominguez Park. For athletics, we are currently talking to the park about using it for practice. As for PE, we have not gotten far yet with it,” Fukuda said.
For the time being, we do have the Dominguez Park which separates the Dominguez Elementary School from our school. Fukuda plans on moving the practices right next to the available field next to us.
“There will be new designs on the field, different from how it is now. Mr. Wong has actually started the process, and he helped design it. It will definitely be different then how it looks now,” Fukuda said.
As we continue throughout the school year, we prepare ahead for what the field will look like. Ms.Fukuda along with the help of Mr. Wong and other staff plan to help get the field up and looking better. Renovating the football field will also bring a big impact on the school, continuing further into the future of the school.
