From Skrillex to Travis Scott, Complex Con 2016
November 27, 2016
ComplexCon is a 2-day culture festival held on November 5-6 celebrated style, music, sneakers, food, and art of our generation. The minds behind it are Host Committee which includes the legendary artist Takashi Murakami, award-winning producer Skrillex, and Cultural Director/Executive Chair Pharrell Williams. At ComplexCon, imagine a place where creators, curators, and consumers converge to celebrate and shape our culture. There are two parts of the complex, the convention, and the concert.
The convention starts at 11 am until 7pm. It had a mash of many top brands including Nike, Beats, Adidas, and OWSLA. Having to be a culture convention, everyone, there had their best fit and it was cool to see many unique styles and shoes (Yeezy’s especially). It was a nice vibe for everyone. They were complimenting one another and shared the same interest. One of the bonus in the convention was that there was a stage called the Pigeons and Planes stage for an underground artist to show what they got so it was a mini-concert while shopping or looking around the convention. Also, there was a resting area called the Sharkitecture, there was a pyramid made of cushions and around 5 of them scattered around. Now to the food, there were 30+ food trucks there including Fat Burger, Yeastie Boys, and Pho King Awesome. The convention was an amazing experience but that is only half of ComplexCon.
Now is the part that I came for. The concert. The concert started at 6:30pm until midnight. The first night (which was the only one I went) was great. First, it featured Virgil Abloh, who is a DJ. Next, is Travis Scott he showed his explosive and savage energy with us in the concert. He sang many of his hits including “Antidote” which moved everyone. Afterward, you get the one and only Kid Cudi collab with Travis Scott. Kid Cudi even sang one of his hits “Pursuit of Happiness”. Finally the main man himself, Skrillex. Skrillex ended the show with spectacular and explosive energy making everyone jump to the music. He remixed many of his popular hits and other hits such as “Soulja boy” and “Sweet Dreams” while riding on a transforming helicopter.
ComplexCon was the first convention and concert I’d ever attended and it was a good first impression I would rate 10/10.
