The 2025 Grammys ended with some extremely controversial choices when it came to Album of the Year and Song of the Year. The viral debate is that Billie Eilish was robbed of a Grammy twice and that she deserved it over Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar.
Let’s start with Billie vs. Beyonce. I think that Billie Eilish did make a really amazing album and her songs, lyrics, and voice were all amazing. However, Beyonce is an amazing singer regardless of whatever she puts out that was confirmed with the Grammy-winning Cowboy Carter album. I personally thought that album could’ve been a lot better and it could’ve represented a lot more mainstream type country music for an album that represents itself as pure country. Cowboy Carter itself was not worthy of a Grammy, but Beyonce was. Billie Eilish is seen in a recent viral video, tearing up when Beyonce was awarded the Grammy. Reasonably so. Hit Me Hard and Soft was in my opinion Billie Eilish’ best album by far. Happier Than Ever is the only one that can compare. Overall, I think Billie’s album was worthy of Album of the Year.
Billie Eilish said in a Rolling Stone interview that, “I feel like this album is me.”
Now, let’s talk about Kendrick vs Billie. Kendrick Lamar won Song of the Year with his diss on Drake, “Not Like Us”. I honestly thought this song had no place in the Grammys, especially not Song of the Year. However, no one song from Billie’s Hit Me Hard and Soft should be celebrated. It deserves Album of the Year! It had 15 million daily streams throughout March of ‘24!
If not Kendrick Lamar or Billie Eilish then who should’ve won Song of the Year? In my opinion, Texas Hold ‘Em should’ve won Song of the Year. It was quite literally the only song that made it to the top of the charts and the only song people appreciated as “country”. To tie it all together, Billie Eilish’ album was worthy of the Grammy. Beyonce’s whole album was not. Texas Hold ‘Em, on the other hand, should replace Not Like Us for Song of the Year. And that’s my opinion.
