Suspense, mystery, thriller, “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” novel by Holly Jackson. This novel is about a girl who is a senior in high school named Pip who tries to solve a case that has been closed for five years, a case that doesn’t sit right with her. Five years ago a popular girl named Andie Bell was supposedly murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh who shortly after kills himself. It was all anyone could talk about for a while. Even after 5 Years the strange tragedy still haunts the town.
The case didn’t sit right, and especially with Pip. She couldn’t live with the fact of not knowing anymore about the case. She knew Sal since she was a child and he had always been kind to her and to everyone she knew. How could he have been a killer? She thought to herself. Why would he kill his girlfriend and then kill himself after?
Now that Pip is a senior she decides to rediscover the closed case for her final project. In the beginning it was meant to be just an overview of the case, but as she digs deeper she uncovers a trail of dark secrets that can prove Sal is innocent. But as she continues to look further into the case there’s someone in Fairview who doesn’t want Pip looking for answers and by doing that her life may now be in danger.
This book was very entertaining to read. It’s the kind of book that gives you adrenaline and leaves you wanting to read more and more. The mysteries that are discovered in this novel would make your mind blow away. So many plot twists were made from the unusual murder case that has happened, or was it really murder after all…? Definitely read it if you’re into the suspense/thriller/mystery genre because it will not leave you disappointed. Also it’s a perfect read for this time of year as it hits “Spooky Season”. Or even just fall. This book has recently been made into a series on Netflix if you want to watch that as well, and it has a sequel called “Good girl, Bad blood” that you should definitely read after.
