Have you ever wanted to discover new campuses, colleges? The SCJEA, also known as the Southern California Journalism Education Association, has sent all Journalism students and Yearbook students on a field trip to Santa Ana College to learn about the various things that you do and tips for being a student journalist. The students have reported that they enjoyed the field trip greatly.
“I learned many things for Journalism. Since I am editor-in-chief, I feel like it’s my duty to help give out ideas for the newspaper and make it a little more interesting for our readers as well. I learned how we can make our newspaper more fun, and make it a little more modern,” said Angelica Gonzalez, grade 12.
This trip could be crucial in providing a possible future career in journalism.
“The field trip was a journalism convention so that schools from around the area can share different ideas to keep student journalism alive. One of the things we were able to do was go into a room and learned about ‘zines’ which we can now implement into our school now,” said Daniel Ramirez, grade 12.
Ramirez is positive that we can make our newspaper more interesting, and he thinks we can make a new segment for our newspaper which will positively affect our writing.
“We went there and we had workshops and we learned how to interview, writing workshops, design, we had breakfast, and there was a keynote speaker,” said Dr. Vieira, English and Journalism teacher.
Dr. V is a perfect example of someone who could benefit from the SCJEA classes!
“It was a really fun experience, I’ve already gone, but it was fun seeing new classes and a new college, and new games. Getting to experience new classes was really fun,” said Zaryah Robinson, grade 12.
Robinson is someone who already went, but she still enjoyed it as if it was her first time going. This is yet another reason that people benefit from the field trip.
“We sat and listened to a seminar; we went in there and [they] told us what it was and what we were going to do and there were different other classes where we could choose them. And we just went and learned about the subject the class was about. I went to the photoshoot class and the interviewing class and we got good tips on how to interview,” said Makalya Rodriguez, grade 12.
Makalya proves that people really have a good time there and there are many interactive classes that every student can learn from. Each student has their own talent that the classes can bring out.

What does it mean “Dr. Vieira could really benefit from those classes”?
