This school year, Rancho has had many new teachers and staff members join us including Mr. Michael Anderson.
Mr. Anderson is an 8th grade US History, 11th grade US History, and 12th grade Economics teacher who really enjoys teaching all his students.
“It feels great [teaching at this school]! I feel very welcome and everyone has been really supportive,” he said. “All the students have been great and it’s been a really positive experience.”
Anderson previously taught at Pacifica High School in Garden Grove. He claims it not to be much different and appreciatively acknowledges the student diversity in both schools. However, back at Pacifica he used to work with a cooperative teacher and now he is teaching on his own.
Anderson is a great teacher with years of experience and he started off this school year strong for it being his first time working without a teacher assistant.
“Before I had a teaching career I was a musician for some years and then I worked at a youth shelter with at-risk kids.”
Anderson has been on tour around the country with his music career. He would play the drums, the electric guitar, and bass.
“Funny enough, my love and passion for music and movies sort of influenced my interest in learning more about history because I love the storytelling aspect. All that sort of connected to the storytelling aspect of history and just being curious about where we all came from, why we’re all here, how we all got here and how the present is all connected to the past.”
Anderson is looking forward to this school year and everything that is to come with it. He and his love for history will give his students a great outlook on this upcoming year and help them develop their own passion for history.
