Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid (or Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon) is a 2017 comedy/fantasy anime adapted from Coolkyoushinja’s manga of the same name. It follows the titular Miss Kobayashi, an apathetic young computer programmer, and her maid, Tohru, who happens to be a dragon in disguise. The series began airing on January 11th, 2017 and concluded on April 6th, 2017 in Japan. The English dub of the series, produced by Funimation Studios, began on February 1st, 2017.

The series begins with Kobayashi waking up to find the dragon Tohru sitting outside her apartment. Tohru then transforms herself into a human woman and quickly declares herself to be Miss Kobayashi’s new maid, much to Kobayashi’s confusion. Tohru then declares that she is in love with Kobayashi, and the latter is left to train Tohru in all things maid while dodging her humorous advances. Things only escalate from there with the arrival of Kanna Kamui, a young dragon who becomes trapped in the human world and decides to live with Kobayashi and Tohru. Kobayashi’s life is quickly turned upside down by her dragon roommates, as well as three other dragons drawn to the human world by Tohru. Kobayashi learns to make it through her everyday life while keeping up with the antics of the dragons, and learns things about herself that she never knew before.

The series is mostly rooted in slice-of-life style comedy, with a strong focus on the relationships between the characters. The series consists of a lot of humor that is balanced out by many heartwarming moments and occasional tear jerking scenes. The series also has a focus on character development and showing the life changes our protagonists have to learn to live with. The characters are charming and relatable, and the story is equal parts hilarious and adorable. The series also has a memorable art style and unique music. This is a very amazing, memorable anime that will hopefully go down in anime history. The series currently consists of 13 episodes that are available in English and Japanese. (Rated TV-14-S)
