Anime Corner: Kiss him, not Me

Mark Molabola, Staff Writer

Ever seen a 200-pound girl lose 100 pounds in a week? Well, this is what Serinuma the protagonist went through in the anime “Kiss him, not Me”. Right after her shocking transformation she immediately became the focus of four handsome guys, turning her world all the way around. Serinuma is a kind and reserved girl with the mix of a hyper ”otaku”, which means that she’s very addicted to Anime. One of the most interesting traits of Serinuma is her interest in “BL”(Boys Love) or guy to guy love. Having this trait combined with four guys attracted to her makes this anime a hilarious comedy with a slight romance genre.

The anime started airing on October 7, 2016, and now has four episodes released. It’s currently rated 7.65 in myanimelist.com.

The plot gets pretty interesting at times, it’s not just your typical romcom. Serinuma’s interest in “BL” is essentially what drives the comedy of the story. The romance isn’t much and it gets really hectic when all four are fussing over her. However, this is what makes this anime unique and interesting compared to your typical comedy, romance, and harem anime.

“Kiss him not Me” is based off a manga which was started back in 2013. It’s still ongoing with 40 chapters published. So far, the anime completely follows the manga so if you ever get tired of waiting for episodes, hopping into the manga is a good alternative.

Overall, “Kiss him not Me ” is an awesome anime if you enjoy comedy and romance. This is guaranteed to make you smile or laugh to the point you don’t even know why you’re laughing. It’s definitely an anime worth watching.
